Slow Cooker/Crock Pot Shepherd’s Irish Pie

The Ingredients:

–3 cups mashed potatoes

–1 lb ground turkey (Jennie-O Turkey) or beef (or half turkey and half beef)

- 3 cloves garlic, pressed or chopped

–2 cups frozen peas

–1 medium onion, chopped

–1/2 tsp salt

–1/2 tsp onion powder

–1/4 tsp paprika

–1/4 tsp black pepper

–1 cup beef broth, low sodium (or 1 cup of water)

–2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded

Do This:

-Brown the meat and onion on the stove, and drain the fat.  Stir the remaining ingredients together with the meat –  except the potatoes and cheese.

-Spray the inside of the crock with cooking spray.

-Put the meat mixture in the crock.

-Add two cups of cheese on top.

-Press the mashed potatoes down on top of the cheese and meat.

-Sprinkle with paprika.

-Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or high for about 2-3 hours.

-Remove the lid and cook on high for 30 minutes — allowing the potatoes to brown.

Serve, season to taste and enjoy!
