Brown Rice Slow Cooker/Crock Pot Recipe

Have you made rice lately?  Sometimes it is hard to get it right; however, making it in the slow cooker/crock pot is simple and the results are perfection.

Brown rice adds a nice nutty taste to your meal.  Move over white rice.  Brown is here to stay.

 

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups brown rice
  • 2 cups chicken* broth (look for low sodium)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1tbsp. olive oil
  • Kosher salt to taste (or any salt you have on hand)

Do this:

-Grease crock-pot/slow cooker lightly with olive oil or spray.

-Add all ingredients above. Stir.

-Cover and cook on High for 2-3 hours.

Serves: 6-8
Prep time: 5 minutes

More:

*Broth: others options work too — beef, seafood, vegetable, or you may use all water.

When turned off, the crockpot/slow cooker will keep rice warm for an hour or two.

Brown rice is high in fiber and rich in anti-oxidants and more!

Brown rice can be served alone, or mixed with many dishes from meats to veggies to soups.
